Tag Rugby Festival!

Monday the 18th May brought rain, wind, sun and 250 children from the local primary schools to Romsey School for a morning of rugby skills and an afternoon of competition. The Top Link Festival was run by pupils from year 9 and 10 who put into practice all the skills they have learnt through their Sports Leaders Course and from having attended the County Top Link Conference.

The tag rugby festival is always very well supported by schools as it allows boys and girls to compete on an equal footing with some teams putting in as many as three squads. Teams play in a first round after which they are split into 6 different competitions. This means that everybody gets to play against teams of equal ability. For the first time the overall winners of the Cup competition, Cupernham A, will go ahead to represent Test Valley South at the Hampshire Youth Games in Aldershot on June 20th. Winners of the Fair Play Trophy went to Romsey Abbey A and runners up Ampfield. SSCO from Romsey school would like to thank all teachers and parents for bringing the children down,Waitrose for their kind sponsorship but especially the pupils of Romsey School for all their hard work.
